Sony finally unveiled the Xperia Z4 on Monday, putting an end to the nonstop rumors and speculation that surrounded the device. The Xperia Z4 looks like a pretty minor upgrade overall, and it may be limited to Japan for the foreseeable future.
The refreshed flagship phone packs the same 5.2-inch 1080p display as last year’s model, but with an updated Snapdragon 810 processor and a slightly smaller 2930mAh battery—likely a result of its slimmed down 6.9mm profile. The Xperia Z4 also packs 32GB of storage with microSD support, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 5.0 out of the box.
The design also looks pretty similar to last year’s Xperia Z3. The Xperia Z4 features an aluminum and glass build and a similar water and dust IP rating as its predecessor. It will be available in white, black, copper and aqua green. Sony is also offering matching screen protector cases, along with a desktop stand for charging the device.
The Xperia Z4 is set to launch in Japan sometime this summer, though we still don’t know how much it will cost. Sony says it’s debating a broader launch for the new phone, and we wouldn’t count on it arriving in the U.S. anytime soon.
