LG G4 pre-orders open up in UK, start at £500

Yesterday the LG G4 finally became official. After a sea of rumors and speculation, the phone was finally announced and today the handset is already up for preorder in the UK. Offers are currently available from various sources, including unlocked-mobiles.com, Clove, Amazon and Expansys.
Currently, unlocked-mobiles.com lists 3 color options - two standard - Metallic Gray and Gold for £499.87 and a black leather option for £529.87. The markup for the signature genuine stitched leather back is a mere GBP £30, which definitely sounds like a good deal. We can only hope, that LG intends to mass-produce the leather variants, so they don't become scarce and hard-to-obtain.

Clove has also listed a quite reasonable price of £500 for the standard black and gold colors and an even smaller £25 markup for the leather option, so, we assume the prices will be in this range. As far as Amazon and Expansys go, both stores do have listings, but with a price tag of £599.99, which is definitely a stretch and hardly representative of the actual price upon launch.
And while we are on the topic of price, the G4 does seem to be cheaper than the current Galaxy S6, although, not by a lot and opting for the leather option evens out the difference. The G4 is, however, significantly cheaper than the S6 edge, which might just give it the necessary market chances. As far as availability goes, unlocked-mobiles.com says May 25, while Amazon and Clove say May 28.

If you are considering the LG G4 as your next smartphone, it does looks to be quite reasonably priced, but bear in mind that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset powering the handset doesn't seem to be doing all that well in benchmarks. But if you can live with the lowered performance, the device does look quite impressive. You can read our initial impressions from the G4 in our hands-onform the announcement event and stay tuned for a full-fledged review once the phone lands in our office.

Stylus-toting LG G Stylo mid-ranger goes official in Korea

LG took the wraps off the LG G Stylo mid-range smartphone in Korean. The newcomer features stylus pen just like last year’s LG G3 Stylus.
The specs of the LG G Stylo include a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable memory. The handset supports microSD cards up to an eye-popping 2TB in size.
A 5.7” 720p IPS display, 8MP main camera, and 5MP front-facing snapper, and customized Android Lollipop are also part of the device’s specs. Full connectivity suite including LTE and Bluetooth 4.1 is also on board.
Physical measures of LG G Stylo are 154.3 x 79.2 x 9.6 mm, while its weight tips the scale at 163 grams. A 3,000 mAh battery powers the device.
LG G Stylo will hit the shelves in Korea first. Select global markets will get the device starting in May.

LG's upcoming Stylus smartphone pictured again

LG is in full throttle for the upcoming G4 flagship release. Everything seems to be going according to plan and the device should premiere on April 28. Before that, though, the manufacturer is launching an ambitious beta testing campaign, #TryLGG4b, which will allow lucky users to actually try the device bore its launch.
All eyes are definitely on the LG G4 right now, but that doesn't mean the Korean tech giant is not working on other projects as well. One such is a mysterious new device, dubbed simply LG Stylus. The phone has already made a visit to the FCC, bringing it a lot closer to consumer markets, but not much is known about the specs sheet just yet.

The handset, model number LS770, will allegedly come with a 5.8-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 processor and a 3,000 mAh battery. The phone is allegedly intended take on the Samsung Galaxy Note series, but, frankly, the aforementioned SoC is not quite up to par to brush shoulders with Samsung's phablets.
This is actually not the first Stylus device LG has developed. There is a LG G3 Stylus currently on offer and its specs sheet is also significantly less impressive than the LG G3, so this might be a developing trend.

Verizon LG G3 getting Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update

Verizon will be updating the LG G3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop through an OTA update. The update has been available through Verizon's desktop app but for those who don't want to deal with that the update will now be available directly on the device itself.

Verizon is the last of the big three carriers in the US to push the Lollipop update to the G3, with AT&T being the first quite a while back, and T-Mobile starting recently.
The update will bring the usual Lollipop features, such as Material Design, improved notifications, user profile modes, priority notification modes, and a ton of under the hood changes.

LG G3 users on T-Mobile receive an update to Android Lollipop

In the United States, LG started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for G3 owners on the Sprint and AT&Tnetwork since early February. And now, LG G3 owners on T-Mobile also received the firmware update.

LG G3 owners on the T-Mobile network don't have to wait for an OTA update to Android Lollipop. The firmware is available via the LG Mobile Support Tool for a PC.
With the LG Mobile Support Tool, all users need to do is connect the T-Mobile LG G3 to a PC or Mac to install the new update. The latter carries software version D85120b and build version LRX21Y.
Android Lollipop brings Material Design with fluid animations, 3D views, and multi-colored themes to LG G3. A brand new ART runtime is also implemented.
