Initial Lenovo A6000 Plus batch sold out in 15 minutes

The first batch of the Lenovo A6000 Plus smartphone, which was launched in India a couple of weeks ago and went on sale on Flipkart yesterday, was depleted in just 15 minutes.

"Lenovo in association with Flipkart sold out 1 lakh [100,000] units of the recently launched A6000 Plus in 15 minutes", the Chinese company said in a statement.

For those who aren't in the know, the handset is essentially an improved version of the already existing A6000, and carries a price tag of INR 7,499 ($120).

Lenovo A5000 quietly makes its way to India for $162

The competition in the sub-$160 smartphone is really intense and hot. Lenovo is one of the companies aiming to gain ground in that segment, launch a host of models there. After introducing Lenovo A6000, A6000 Plus, and A7000, the company is soon expected to introduce the new A5000 at INR10,250 ($162), as estimated from a retailer Mahesh Telecom's post.

Yesterday, the A5000 was introduced in Russia for $227 which is way higher than the price set for India.

The A5000 features a 5" 720p display with special nano coating for prevention from water splashes. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 SoC with quad-core 1.3GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8MP rear snapper with LED flash, 2MP front camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and FM radio.

Weighing about 160 grams because of the 4,000 mAh battery, A5000 is a 10mm thick dual-SIM phone with 3G support.

100,000 Lenovo A6000 Plus units to be available in first flash sale

Lenovo has announced that 100,000 units of the A6000 Plus smartphone, which launched in India late last week, will be available in the first flash sale on Flipkart on April 28 .

"Considering the A6000 sold out 300,000 units faster than anticipated, we are expecting the A6000 Plus to see an even greater response," the company said. "The Lenovo A6000 Plus lets you do more in every way seamlessly and outperforms phones that cost a lot more."

The handset, which is essentially an improved version of the already existing A6000, carries a price tag of INR 7,499 ($120). Registrations for the sale have already begun, and will close on April 27.

Lenovo launches A6000 Plus smartphone in India

Just a couple of days after it was announced, the Lenovo A6000 Plus smartphone has been launched in India. The device carries a price tag of INR 7,499 ($120).

The handset, which is essentially an improved version of the already existing A6000, is powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset and sports a 5-inch display of 720p resolution. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, and packs in a 2,300mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the device features an 8MP rear unit and a 2MP front shooter. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. As for the availability, the A6000 Plus will be exclusively available on Flipkart from April 28 via flash sale, for which registrations have already begun (hit the Source link below).

Lenovo Vibe X2 is set to get Lollipop update on May 27

While other manufacturers have been releasing updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop for their devices left and right, Lenovo has so far stayed out of this game. A couple of months ago we found out that a few of its smartphones would in fact be graced with the new software version, but not before the second quarter of this year.

Well, we're already in Q2 right now, so you may be wondering when to expect those updates on a Lenovo smartphone near you. As it turns out, if you own a Lenovo Vibe X2, then you should see the Lollipop update notification popping up on May 27.

This info comes straight from the Chinese company itself, through its Twitter account for the Middle East region. The account responded to someone's question about the update for the Vibe X2 with the aforementioned date.

We don't yet have news about any other Lenovo devices and when they are supposed to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop - other than the rough time frame of Q2. So, to recap, before the end of June the following handsets should also run the new software: A5000, A6000, P70, S90, Vibe Z2, and Vibe Z2 Pro. And those are probably going to be the only Lenovo-branded phones to be updated to Lollipop, since the company hasn't expanded the list.

Lenovo A6000 Plus is a new 5-incher with 2 gigs of RAM

Lenovo is working on keeping its midrange up-to-date and has now announced in India the new A6000 Plus model. As the name suggests, it's not an entirely new device, but an improved version of the already existing A6000.

What the Plus moniker brings to the table is increased operating memory - 2GB over the standard model's single gig, and 16GB of built-in storage as opposed to the previous 8GB. The upgrade will be easily felt in both areas with more relaxed space for app installation and multimedia storage as well as improved multitasking experience.

Other than that the A6000 Plus is very much the same phone, built around a 5-inch display of 720p resolution. The mainstream Snapdragon 410 provides computing power, with its quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz.

The dual-SIM device supports Cat.4 LTE for up to 150Mbps download speeds. A 2,300mAh battery is fitted in the 141 x 70 x 8.2 mm body, weighing 128g. An 8MP/2MP camera combo is on board for capturing memories, and the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The Lenovo A6000 Plus will command a minor premium over the non-Plus model but no exact numbers have been quoted. With the A6000 costing INR7,000 ($112) and the larger 5.5-inch A7000 priced at INR9,000 ($144), the A6000 Plus will likely settle somewhere in the middle, when it hits the stores.

Lenovo A6000 to go on open sale in India from March 23 to 25

Lenovo has announced that its A6000 smartphone, which was launched back in January this year, will be available in an open sale that will run from Monday through Wednesday next week on Flipkart.

This is the first time the handset will be available without any registration as the Chinese company has been only conducting flash sales of the device till now. The first flash sale was held on January 28, wherein the company claimed that it sold 10,000 units of the handset in just 2 seconds. The second one, conducted in February, saw a total of 20,000 units being sold in just three seconds.

The open sale of the A6000 will clash with the flash sale of Xiaomi's Redmi 2 smartphone, which is set to take place on Tuesday next week.

As expected, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 2 that will hit store shelves on March 24 via the usual flash sale. The smartphone sports a 4.7-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels of resolution, with a pixel density that goes up to 312ppi. It is 9.4mm thin with matte touch backcover, along with fingerprint and grease resistance. Under the hood, it comes powered by a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. The Redmi 2 is a 4G dual-SIM handset where both  the slots support 4G. It comes with USB OTG and runs on Xiaomi’s own MIUI 6 skin over Android 4.4 KitKat.Some other specs include 8GB onboard storage, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS besides 4G LTE (TDD/FDD) network support. It will be available in pink, yellow, green, grey and white colour variants.The company also plans to launch a Limited Edition soon with 16GB storage and 2GB RAM.

The all-new Moto E sports a 4.5-inch display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution, and runs the latest Android flavor – 5.0 Lollipop. The 3G version of the Moto E is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 32-bit processor and a 400MHz Adreno 302 GPU. It also includes 1GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot. In terms of camera, it gets a 5MP rear snapper along with an auto focus sensor and includes features like geo-tagging, panorama, and HDR. It also comes with a front-facing VGA camera.The LTE version has a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and a 400MHz Adreno 306 GPU. The Lenovo A6000 comes with a large 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by a 64-bit, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM. The A6000 is a  dual-SIM smartphone, which supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, and weighs 128 grams. The Lenovo A6000 comes with stereo speakers, which work on Dolby Digital Plus technology. It has an internal storage of 8GB, expandable up to 32GB. It also gets an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, which sports the Vibe UI 2.0 skin. Conclusion

All three smartphones – the Redmi 2, Moto E second gen and Lenovo A6000 – carry the same price tag, so it all boils down to what they have to offer. To begin with, the Lenovo A6000 brings a large screen experience with its 5-inch display, but the Redmi 2 offers the sharpest and best display among all three. However, the A6000 is highly portable at 128 grams, compared to other two.

All three support similar connectivity options (Moto E lacks USB OTG) and similar storage space with expandable storage space up to 32GB. In terms of battery, Moto E still lags with a 5MP rear and VGA front-facing cameras. In terms of performance, Lenovo and Xiaomi have employed Snapdragon 410, while Motorola goes with Snapdragon 200.

However, the Moto E steals the show when it comes to the OS, as it runs stock Android – the latest iteration 5.0 Lollipop.  Moreover, it is offered by a more seasoned OEM. The Moto E 4G variant is yet to launch in India, which could give the others a head start.

On paper, Redmi 2 comes across as the winner. Though the Moto E doesn’t shine when it comes to the specs, it comes from a more seasoned OEM and we can expect a decent performance.
