Vivo X5 Pro will come with eye recognition tech

For the past couple of weeks or so Vivo has been teasing its next smartphone, the X5 Pro. Alongside the company's teases, we've also seen a purported render of the phonegetting leaked, and now it's time for a new teaser, as you can see on the left.
This time around we're thankfully treated to more than just the contour of the X5 Pro's rounded corners.
In fact, in the Weibo post that accompanies this image, Vivo is talking about this smartphone employing eye recognition technology, or Eye ID. This seems to work through iris scanning, which Vivo claims is going to be more secure than any other authentication method, as the information its sensor sees "can't be copied".
The technology will be used both for securing the phone itself, but apparently you may be able to secure specific apps too.
No more details are available at the moment, yet the X5 Pro could get its official unveiling on May 7, according to some past rumors. If that's true, then we've got little over a week to go until the big day.
The handset will sport a metal build, 2.5D curved glass on the front, a 3,500 mAh battery, a USB Type C connector, and the ability to take 32 MP pictures with its front camera. That is likely to be achieved through some software trickery, and not with a 32 MP sensor, mind you. As for the main snapper, it should come with phase detection autofocus. And at the helm of all this could sit a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset.

Vivo X5 Pro tipped to launch early next month

Vivo's upcoming X5 Pro smartphone will launch on May 7, according to a report from Chinese website Mobile-Dad. What's worth mentioning here is that it is the same date the Vivo Xshot debuted last year.
From what we know so far, the X5 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, comes with 3GB of RAM, and packs in a 3,500mAh battery. It features a camera with phase detection autofocus, and runs Android Lollipop with the company’s own Funtouch UI on top. The device is also said to utilize a front glass with slightly rounded corners, which produce a 2.5D effect.
Needless to say, none of this has been officially confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Alleged press render of Vivo X5 Pro appears online

Alleged press render of the upcoming Vivo X5 Pro made the rounds online. The upcoming smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer is expected to debut as early as this week, on April 28.

The leaked render falls in line with the teaser images of the handset that appeared over the past couple of weeks. Vivo X5 Pro will utilize a front glass with slightly rounded corners, which produce a 2.5D effect. The latter has been increasingly popular feature in smartphones lately.
Rumored specs of Vivo X5 Pro include Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, 3GB of RAM, camera with phase detection autofocus, and 3,500mAh battery. The device will boot Android Lollipop dressed in Funtouch 2.1 UI.

Vivo X5Pro teased in new promo images

Vivo is the final stages of development of its new X5Pro smartphone, as indicated by more and more specific details, that have surfaced online. After we showed you a glimpse of the handset's sleek 2.5D glass corners a few days ago, new info sheds light on some of the X5Pro's features.

For starters, the camera will come with phase detection autofocus, a feature so far limited to DSLR cameras and a select few smartphones in the high-end segment, namely the Apple iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Vivo has been working on the tech for a while, apparently, and what was rumored to be intended for the Xshot sequel will make it's way to the X5Pro.
It's not all about imaging though, and one of the slogans in the X5Pro promo images translates intoendless music. Together with the "Hi-Fi and smart" motto this leads us to believe the smartphone will feature some serious audio circuitry, targeting audiophiles on the go.
The smartphone will boot Android 5.0, hardly a surprise at this time anymore, even less for a premium offering. In typical Vivo fashion, the OS will be skinned with the company's proprietary Funtouch OS in its 2.1 iteration.

So far, that's all that has been revealed on the Vivo X5Pro. The smartphone is to be expected sometime in May so we'll know the whole story sooner rather than later.

Vivo starts teasing the X5 Pro with 2.5D glass screen

Vivo has started teasing its next smartphone, the X5 Pro. At the same time, a leaked image came out supposedly depicting this device.
In its teaser shot, Vivo is showing us the X5 Pro's rounded corners, along with 2.5D glass on top of the screen. This means the glass is rounded at the edges, as is pretty obvious from the picture.
The X5 Pro should complement the X5 and X5 Max in Vivo's portfolio when it launches. The Chinese company is also said to be working on a successor to the Xshot, as well as an Xplay 5S flagship offering. So the near future is going to be quite filled with Vivo announcements it seems.
Unfortunately though no specs have been outed for the X5 Pro, not even alongside the leaked image above. This purportedly shows one corner of this phone. The X5 Pro could become official sometime in May.
