Apple Watch in-store pickup now available worldwide

Apple Watch is available exclusively online since its launch in April. Apple just couldn’t produce as many Watches as people wanted, so it focused on delivering the first batches to its online customers only. Later Apple detailed the retail availability - the Watch is supposed to hit the shelves across the international Apple Stores on June 26.
Today Apple launched an option to reserve an in-store pickup for the Apple Watch. The reservation & pickup option is available across the globe, on markets with Apple Retail Stores. You need to register, enter a valid Apple ID and a local phone number and make an appointment within 30 minutes upon receiving a special code on your email address.
After you are done with your reservation, you can go to your selected retail Apple Store and get your Watch. Naturally not all models are available for in-store pickup, while all Editions are online exclusives only.
The same page is live on the Australian, German, French, USA and UK Apple Stores, among others. It seems Apple is prepping for the promised retail launch on June 26.

Apple Watch 2 said to launch next year

Just a few months after there were reports that the successor to the Apple Watch will be launched later this year, a new report out of South Korea is suggesting that the wearable will be released sometime in 2016.
The latest report also notes that LG, which was the exclusive display supplier for the Watch, will remain so for the next iteration of the smartwatch as well.
If you aren't already aware, the South Korean company dominated the global smartwatch display market in first quarter of 2015 with 67% market share and a whopping 91% share of the revenue.

A gold-plated Apple Watch out of Vietnam costs just $1,000

The Apple Watch polarized opinions when it was officially unveiled and its pricing revealed to the public. The premium Watch Edition models, which come with a gold case, cost upwards of $10,000 with prices all the way up to $17,000.

Well, if that sounds pricier than you're willing to pay, but your status or other considerations call for a gold Apple Watch, Vietnamese luxury specialists at Karalux may have just the right solution for you. They are offering an 18K gold plating job on the Apple Watch for a mere $300 to $400, bringing the total price to $1,000.

18K gold-plated Apple Watch

That amount of cash will get you a 38mm Apple Watch with a stainless steel case covered in 18K gold, and black or white sports band. Opting for a classic buckle will cost you additional $300 for a total of $1,300. If you choose the 42mm model, the grand total reaches $1,400, still about a tenth of Apple's price tag.
Naturally, it won't be the real thing, but it's still genuine gold and at that price it's as close as it gets to what you'd call a bargain in the Apple Watch realm. How and if you can get one out of Vietnam is unclear though.

Apple ‘Working Hard’ To Catch Up With Apple Watch Demand

Apple is “working very, very hard” to meet the strong demand for Apple Watch, Apple CFO Luca Maestri told Bloomberg Businessweek in the wake of the company’s earnings call today. Apple is facing demand that it hopes to largely catch up with by the end of June, according to the executive.
“It’s been really great to see the reaction of customers since their watches started arriving beginning Friday morning,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said on today’s earnings call. “The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” he added, citing social media reaction.
This product launch has been unusual in a number of ways, but one of the most significant was the unavailability of Apple Watch units in retail stores at launch. Customers only had the option to pre-order the devices online initially, and while they could schedule appointments to try them on in retail locations, they could not actually make a purchase on the spot and walk away with product.
applewatchthumb4
While Apple shipment windows for devices already ordered appear to be improving, the ship times anticipated on the store site currently still show long wait times. There’s alsosome evidence to suggest that band options are determining the shipment variance from model to model.
“Right now, demand is greater than supply, so we’re working hard to remedy that,” Cook said on the call. “We were able to ship more Watches during this past weekend than we had anticipated,” he added, noting that they’re going to continue doing that, including sending more units out today.
“Sometime in late June, we anticipate being in a position that we could begin to sell the Apple Watch in additional countries,” he said.

Apple Boasts Over 3,500 Apple Watch Apps Already Available

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on today’s company earnings call that there are over 3,500 apps available at launch for the Apple Watch, which is better than the 1,000 total that were ready for iPad when that device launched in April of 2010, and 7 times the 500 apps available when the iPhone’s App Store first debuted in July 2008.
The Apple Watch launched on Friday, and developers have been able to submit apps to the Store for approval since March 31, 2015. The company revealed the Apple Watch last fall, and made the initial WatchKit tools, along with the iOS 8.2 beta to support it, available beginning in November 2014.
“We’re far ahead from where we expected to be from an application point of view,” Cook said in today’s briefing. “We had an internal goal of beating that 1,000 [that the iPad had] and we exceeded that.”
Software is a key selling tool for Apple Watch, and clearly Apple did as much as it could to populate the launch library with a wide variety of software. The Apple Watch lacked the iPad’s advantage of being able to run unmodified iPhone apps in compatibility mode, too, which means a healthy collection was even more important to initial impressions.

Apple Watch Teardown by iFixit

Today is Apple Watch D-Day for a speedy few early adopters, with Cupertino finally shipping the first batch of its debut wearable to buyers.  That means it’s also the day that serial repairers/tenacious teardowners iFixit get to crack open Apple’s latest sealed box and peer inside so we don’t have to.
Their teardown of a 38mm Apple Watch Sport and a 42mm Apple Watch steel are currently in progress — you can follow the painfully detailed dissection here.
One nugget of intel they’ve managed to prise out of the back of the dinky wrist computer so far is that Apple is not making it easy to swap out the S1 processor chip that powers the watch.
That may sound pretty obvious but there have been suggestions Apple could offer an upgrade program for the Watch — offering processor upgrades as a way for the smartwatch to stand the test of time vs less smart (but more long-lived) luxury watches with which it competes for wrist real-estate.
However iFixit’s findings suggest those rumors are wide of the mark (albeit, this finding relates specifically to the lowest priced Apple Watch Sport model).
Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 9.51.42 AM
Getting to the Watch’s S1 processor took iFixit 20 steps. And required some “destructive procedure”, as they term it — aka ripping out soldering. “Despite rumors (and hopes) of an upgradable product — the difficulty of removing the S1 alone casts serious doubt on the idea of simply swapping out the internals,” they note.
The Apple Watch’s S1 chip is also encased in what they describe as “a solid block of plasticky resin” — presumably to make curious teardowners like iFixit work harder for component intel.
In contrast to its silence on the sealed away S1, Apple has previously confirmed to TechCrunch that the Apple Watch’s battery will be replaceable. And iFixit’s teardown bears that out — showing it’s far simpler (and non-destructive) to get to the battery to replace it.
After lifting and disconnecting the display to get to the guts, they’re able to flick the battery out — by step 11 in their teardown — liberating it from what they say is only “light adhesive” securing it in place.
iFixit Apple Watch teardown
TechCrunch understands the lifecycle of the Apple Watch battery is pegged at around three years. But if there’s no avenue for swapping out and upgrading the internals at the same time, users may well be pushed towards a wholesale device

Apple Begins Offering Virtual “Personal Setup” Appointments To New Watch Owners

As a number of early customers will receive their Apple Watch smartwatches today, Apple has also begun to send out email invitations offering “personal setup” appointments that take place via video sessions with an Apple Specialist. The sessions allow customers to learn about their new device and be walked through its features, as well as have the opportunity to ask questions.
Specialists will also be making app recommendations, the email says, and will help customers personalize their device.
What’s interesting is that initially the virtual personal setup appointments were rumoredto only be offered to those buying either of the two higher-end smartwatches: the Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Edition. These customers were to be offered virtual “try-on” experiences ahead of purchase, which would then be followed by the setup sessions.
However, today, Apple Sport Watch buyers are also receiving invitations to schedule their personal setup appointments online.
Sessions are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening hours, and currently have availability through May 7th, though many of the early time slots are already filled. The online form also allows customers to indicate what specifically they’re looking to receive help with when their appointment time rolls around.
Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 10.15.22 AM
The online appointment is basically a virtualized extension of the personal setup sessions already offered in Apple’s retail stores, but are indicative of the company’s ongoing shift with regard to its Apple Watch launch, and ultimately, its sales strategy as a whole. Apple now moves customers to the e-commerce channel for sales and support, rather than encouraging the usual out-the-door line-ups for Apple product launches.
As Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts explained in an internal email memo to retail employees, the “days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers,” she said. Instead, Apple wants to customers to use its Apple Store app and its online store for their orders, which Ahrendts noted would require “a significant change in mindset.”
Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 10.15.48 AM
To make that transition more seamless for customers, Apple is offering customers the ability to engage face-to-face like they’re used to in Apple retail stores, but from the comfort of their own home. Not only does this help the often over-crowded retail store staff focus on addressing more urgent customer needs like repairs, or free them up to host more classes or spend more time with shoppers, it also means Apple can scale its customer support business to reach more customers, including those who don’t live close to a retail store.
Initially, the Apple Watch launch appeared to suffer from supply constraints as many customers who missed the pre-order window on April 10 were given shipment dates in May or even June. But for many, this ended up as a case of Apple under-promising then over-delivering. Much to their surprise, some customers began receiving shipment notifications this week that their Watch would be arriving earlier – in some cases months earlier – than expected. Now those customers can forgo a trip to their nearest store, and instead use the online channel to have their early questions answered.

Apple Watch Keeps Ticking After 15 Minutes Under Water

water
It’s a hot day. You jump into a swimsuit, hop into the pool, and… suddenly remember that your Apple Watch is still on your wrist.
Well, crap — $600 wrist computer ruined, right? Nope.
In an early user test, at least, it seems the Apple Watch is pretty darn water resistant. The guys over at FoneFox tossed a Sport edition watch into the shallow end of a pool — and after 15 minutes, it was still tickin’ away. They were even able to get the device to kinda-sorta work under water, though capacitive touch screens tend to freak out and do whatever they want when submerged.
Note: the video has a shirtless dude soaping up in a shower, which might look a bit weird to your boss/colleagues if you’re at work.

Does this mean you should go swimming with it on the regular? Nope.
You’ll note that Apple doesn’t play up water resistance in their marketing very much — the only mentions of it anywhere on Apple.com are in footnotes buried deep at thebottom of a spec list.
And that’s for good reason: while it’s “water resistant”, it’s hardly water proof. The Apple Watch’s water resistance is rated at IPX7, which means that it should survive occasional dips up as deep as 1M (3.2 feet) for 30 minutes. Take it deeper than that, or for longer periods of time, though, and you’re tempting fate. Given that most pool time fun takes you deeper than 3 ft, it’s best to keep it keep it somewhere dry.
But as someone who once had an iPhone bite the dust in his shirt pocket after a light rain, it’s comforting to know that the Apple Watch is a bit more forgiving.

An Early Look At The Apple Watch App Ecosystem

With the Apple Watch now officially on the market, and soon to be on the wrists of several million customers – possibly as many as 20 million this year, according to some estimates – there’s a lot of curiosity about what kind of app ecosystem will spring up around the new device. Will Apple Watch owners actually be interested in reading news, shopping or playing tiny games, or will the Watch serve its customers better when it fades into the background, allowing you to pay at checkout, unlock hotel room doors, and only alerting you when it has something really important to share?
While it’s too soon to say how consumers will embrace this new platform, we do have some early insights into how developers have approached the Apple Watch, according to new data from app store analytics firm App Annie.
Apple yesterday said that the Apple Watch was launching with over 3,000 applications that work on the device, but App Annie has pegged that number more exactly to be 3,061 as of yesterday’s count – which the firm notes is a “healthy start” for the new wearable.
Also interesting is that a significant portion of apps have been designed exclusively for the Apple Watch.
The majority of Watch apps are the result of developers who extended their existing iOS applications to include Watch support, of course, but App Annie tracked 889 apps – or 29% of the total sample – built just for the Watch. The company said it was able to infer this from the fact that the first version of the app was developed in the last two weeks, which is a fairly reliable means to determining which apps were designed with the new smartwatch in mind.
Some developers are hoping that including support for the new Watch will also help them be better discovered in App Store searches as well, as new device owners seek out apps that can translate to their wrist. 10% of the Watch apps live now (or 311 apps), currently include the word “Watch” in their app’s name in order to help consumers through the sorting process, App Annie found.
As to what sort of apps developers are building, it’s not entirely surprising to find the community gravitating toward the kind of apps that help users get things accomplished. After all, the Watch is often thought of as a functional, enabling technology rather than a distraction, the way smartphones have become. The leading category with the most Apple Watch apps is the “Utility” category, App Annie says, with 12% (373 total) apps.
What is perhaps more interesting is that many developers are betting that users will eventually began to goof off with their fancy wrist-wear: Games comprise 10% of the total App Watch apps built to date.
Following Games are Productivity apps (8%), Lifestyle apps (7%), then Health & Fitness apps (also 7%). Those top five categories out of the 22 total categories live at launch represent a combined 46% of all Apple’s Watch apps. For comparison’s sake, Catalogs and Books have less than 20 apps. Clearly developers don’t believe these sorts of apps make sense on the small screen. (I’d have to agree.) Meanwhile, Weather, Photo & Video, and Medical apps are also on the lower end at 2% and under.
The Medical category would have some overlap with Health & Fitness apps – so if you combined the two categories, it would indicate a larger preference among the developer community to focus on the health aspects to Apple’s new wearable device.
The real question now is what apps will users actually download from these categories, once their Apple Watch arrives? And how many of those apps will be deleted after the initial buzz of trying new app experiences wears off? That’s data App Annie is also collecting, and will release in the days and months ahead.

Apple Watch now available for sale, back-ordered until June

April 24, is the official launch of the long awaited Apple Watch. As we reported yesterday the Watch will be sold exclusively online until Apple can meet the demand. Indeed Apple Watch is only available for purchase online as of today, but it is on backorder.
According to Apple Store the first Watch orders will begin shipping in June. This is about two months from now.
Fortunately, the Apple Watch is available for testing and exploring at Apple Store Retail, so at least you can see it live before making a decision. Apple also included a detailed sizing guide, for those of you who can't go to an Apple Retail Store.
You can learn more about the Apple Watch editions at the official Apple Store page. If you want one, you should hurry up as the shipping may soon change to July or August. Hopefully Apple won’t introduce a successor this September.

Apple stores didn't sell the Watch Yesterday, Others sold

Yesterday, April 24 is the launch day of the awaited Apple Watch. The pre-order campaign is now over, sort of, and the first batch of Watches is now slowly starting to ship. Slowly because due to the high demand and limited stock if you order and Apple Watch it will still ship in 4 to 6 weeks.

Apparently no Apple Store worldwide will be offering the Watch for a walk-in purchase. You are able to try it at Apple Retail, but it won't be in stock tomorrow, not even a single unit. Eventually, when Apple catches up with the demand, the Watch will arrive in Apple Stores, but there is no information on when this is going to happen. Judging by the massive online delays, it won't be soon.
There are six stores, which will be selling the Apple Watch from day one, though. Those are fashion boutiques and were actually advertised before by Apple for the same thing. The six boutiques are scattered around the world, require an appointment and will have a rather limited stock of few hundred units.
The six exclusive stores are 10 Corso Como in Milan, Italy; The Corner in Berlin, Germany; Colette in Paris, France; Dover Street Market in London, UK and Tokyo, Japan; and Maxfield in LA, USA. Those fashion boutiques will have the Apple Watch in stock tomorrow for sure.

Fashion Marketplace Poshmark Raises $25 Million More, Heads To Apple Watch

Three years ago, fashion marketplace Poshmark launched on iOS with an app that allowed women to buy and sell secondhand items, including clothing, shoes and other accessories, right from their mobile device. The company, which has since expanded to Android and the web as of last year, has now grown its online community to include millions of registered users, and is on track to double its revenue in just six months this quarter to $200 million in annual sales. Today, Poshmark is also announcing $25 million in Series C funding, with investment from Mayfield, Menlo Ventures, Inventus Capital, Union Grove Venture Partners, Shea Ventures, and SoftTech VC.
To date, Poshmark has raised $47.2 million in outside capital.
While there are a number of competitors in the online fashion resale space today, including luxury consignment site The RealReal which also this month took in an additional $40 million in new funding, what makes Poshmark different from many of these sites is that it doesn’t play middleman when it comes to managing the transactions that take place on its platform.
Instead, Poshmark’s buyers and sellers connect with each other directly, similar to a marketplace like eBay, for example. Poshmark, meanwhile, simply provides a suite of tools for these buyers and sellers to take advantage of – ranging from print-out shipping labels to secure payment transfers to an optional authentication service for high-end goods and more.
poshmark-purse
Today, says founder and CEO Manish Chandra, there are over 700,000 sellers on the platform, and, at any given time, there are over 10 million items for sale on Poshmark. Also unlike sites like The RealReal, which solely focuses on the luxury market, items on Poshmark can be anything from a $25 “fast fashion” article of clothing to a $5,000 handbag, the CEO says.
Poshmark’s decision to style itself as a platform as opposed to a company that has to house inventory itself has allowed the company to scale rapidly. Its sellers upload over $2 million of new inventory daily to its service, and Poshmark processes millions of orders daily. The bulk of the order volume on the site is everyday fashion, but, of course, the sale of high-end items contribute more to the bottom line.
The company has also benefitted from its “mobile-first” approach, existing as an app long before it was ever a website. Today, that focus is still reflected in its user base, where over 90% of users are on mobile, and over 90% of revenue comes from mobile as well. And when those users are actively buying or selling, they’re highly engaged – checking in on their sales seven to nine times per day and spending over 20 minutes on Poshmark’s service.
Miami Posh Party
“The number of buyers and sellers has remained equal on the platform,” notes Chandra. “And that’s a testament to our social and mobile focus,” he says. “That gives us what we think of as an infinitely scalable marketplace where it’s not constrained on either side.”
He also attributes Poshmark’s success to its matching algorithm, which connects women with relevant items of interest, and Poshmark’s support for human curation, where women are styling and sharing their merchandise in collections and online “parties” for others to discover.
Now, the service that began as a resale marketplace for individuals selling their own items is starting to see a shift in its user base. Today, a small but growing percentage (around 5%-7%) of sellers are buying wholesale goods new and then reselling them on Poshmark at retail prices. And some sellers are building their own consignment shops on Poshmark where they sell items on behalf of others. Meanwhile, there’s also a growing number of indie designers selling items they’ve created themselves, as they would on a site like Etsy.
Poshmark plans to tap into this expanding “fashion salesforce” of independent merchants who reach customers on mobile, and is hoping to connect with bigger fashion brands who want to leverage its community to find new customers for themselves.
With the new funding, company is planning to move into new verticals, including men’s and children’s items, hire more staff, and expand internationally into parts of Europe and Asia.
The company today is also launching an Apple Watch app that will let consumers keep track of their favorites and their sales from their wrist, which Chandra admits is still something of an experiment. But it’s one he’s betting big on – the company is giving all its employees an Apple Watch for free, in fact.
“Anything that increases the efficiency of communication and information…has the opportunity to be a killer platform,” he says.
No one believed him a few years ago when he said he would build an entire marketplace on the iPhone, Chandra points out. “If I didn’t have a successful company before that, I wouldn’t have even gotten a term sheet,” he says. But Poshmark proved that mobile could be an advantage in terms of scaling its business. “And if Apple Watch is going to be the next killer platform…we need to be ahead of the curve.”

Apple sold 3M Watches, making bank on the Edition

The Apple Watch pre-orders are in full swing, but the delivery date for new orders keeps slipping back. The principal of Think Big Analytics, Carl Howe, estimates that Apple has sold 3 million units already and now that Quanta has gotten the hang of building watches Howe thinks the company will produce 2 million a month in May and June.
However, Howe says, this will not be enough to match demand. The most affordable Apple Watch Sport will sell the most units, having moved an estimated 1.8 million already. The Apple Watch comes in second with 1.2 million while the expensive Watch Edition is at around 40,000.

Considering that these three differ mainly on their external case, the margins on the Watch and Watch Edition are much higher than on the Sport. So much so that the estimated revenue (of around $2 billion total) is dominated by the Watch, then the Sport and the Edition is a close third.
Yes, the Watch Edition units have premium gold exterior, but not enough to make up for a significant part of the $10,000 price tag. The wrist bands will earn a good deal of money too and they are a must have as the $550 Watch and $10,000 Watch Edition come with the same plastic strap as the $350 Watch Sport.

Expansys now selling Samsung Gear S for £275

UK e-retailer Expansys has dropped the price of Samsung's Gear S smartwatch, which was unveiled back in September last year at IFA and went on sale a couple of months later, from the usual £330 ($494) to £275 ($412).
The price drop, however, applies only to the Pure White model of the smartwatch, with the Blue Black model available on demand for £285 ($427). Meanwhile, another UK e-retailer Handtec is selling the wearable for an even lower price of £258 ($386), but they currently do not have it in stock.
Powered by Tizen, the Gear S features a 2″ curved Super AMOLED display and doesn’t require a smartphone connection to operate on full capacity thanks to its SIM card slot and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Apple Watch to be available for in-store purchase in June

In the recent weeks, there have been reports that Apple won't be selling the Apple Watch to walk-in customers until the first wave of customer demand has passed - those who want to purchase the smartwatch will have to pre-order it online. Now, the company has revealed that orders will be online-only for a few weeks only.
"We expect this to continue through the month of May," said Apple’s retail chief Angela Ahrendts in a leaked memo, which was obtained by The Telegraph. This effectively means that the device will be available for in-store purchase in June.
However, Ahrendts also made it clear that the way Apple is handling the sales this time is exclusive to Apple Watch only. "Are we going to launch every product this way from now on? No," she said. "We all love those blockbuster Apple product launch days - and there will be many more to come."
If you aren't in the know, the Cupertino-based company has already opened up the pre-orders for the Apple Watch, and the device will start shipping on April 24.

Apple Watch U.S. Pre-Orders Hit ~1M On Launch Day, Says Data Firm

How much demand is there for Apple’s “most personal device ever”? That’s the question that will be busying tech industry analysts for the foreseeable future. Or at least until Apple releases firm sales data on the Apple Watch (if it chooses to do so).
Apple’s debut smartwatch went up for online pre-order on Friday, with in store retail appointments available for those wanting to try before they clicked buy. Shipping fulfilment dates range between late April/early May for those especially quick on the pre-order button, but soon extended into June for many models.
Apple has not specified how many units it made available at pre-order launch, however U.S. online commerce market research firm, Slice Intelligence, has crunched e-receipt data from 9,080 online shoppers to extrapolate some data on U.S.-specific demand over this initial sales period.
On Friday’s pre-order launch day the firm reckons nearly one million (957,000) people in the U.S. pre-ordered an Apple watch. Unsurprisingly, the most popular model to order was the less expensive Sport model — purchased by 62 per cent of U.S. consumers.
(The Sport range starts at $349; the mid-priced Watch line starts at $549; the premium Edition line starts at $10,000.)
The average spent by all U.S. Apple Watch pre-orderers was $503.83, according to Slice’s data. While Apple Watch Sport buyers spent an average of $382.83 per watch, and those purchasing the mid-priced Apple Watch each spent $707.04 on average — so some pre-orderers were splashing out on more than the least expensive model in their chosen range.
Many buyers opted to combine shelling out for a pricier case with spending the minimum possible on a band, with more than a third of buyers opting for the cheapest Sport band, in black or white. It also found that the black Sports band was by far the most popular band option among buyers of both the Sport and Apple Watch lines.
When it comes to the case, most consumers opted for the larger 42mm case — whether they were buying an Apple Watch or the Sport edition — with 71 per cent selecting the larger format. (That may indicate that more pre-orderers were men than women, given relative average wrist sizes, but Slice’s data doesn’t confirm either way.)
Sport Watch buyers were slightly more likely to choose the smaller 38 mm case — with a third (32 per cent) purchasing the smaller version, versus a quarter (24 per cent) of Apple Watch buyers.
The data indicates the most popular type of case among early adopters is the Space Gray aluminum option, chosen by 40 per cent of pre-orderers; followed by stainless steel (34 per cent); silver aluminum (23 per cent). Least popular: Space Black stainless steel (three per cent).
Slice also found that Apple Watch pre-orderers are very engaged and loyal Apple consumers, as you might expect, with 72 per cent of those buying the smartwatch also having purchased another Apple product (iPhone, Apple computer or iPad) in the past two years. While a fifth (21 per cent) had pre-ordered an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus a matter of months ago.
Add to that, nearly a third had purchased two Apple products in the past two years, and 11 per cent had bought all three devices, in addition to their new Apple Watch.
apple-watch-event0207
Slice also pulled data on sales of Apple’s new super slim, port-lite Macbook, which also went on sale Friday. It estimates around 48,000 Macbooks were sold online, with the Space Gray colorway the most popular option (58 per cent), followed by the new gold version (36 per cent). The 512 GB model was marginally more popular than the 256 GB model.
Close to half (43 per cent) of Macbook buyers also bought an Apple Watch, according to the data. While a strong majority (75 per cent) of Macbook buyers had purchased another Apple product in the past two years. And a quarter (26 per cent) of Macbook buyers had previously pre-ordered an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
It’s worth stressing that these figures are just guesstimates made by one company, and only pertain to the U.S. market — which is just one of nine initial markets where the Apple Watch went up for pre-order Friday. The other eight markets are: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and the U.K.
Apple does sometimes release sales data for a new device launch so stay tuned for official figures which might land in the next few days.
